Star Spangled Blue Martini Recipe
It’s the Fourth of July and time to show America some love! So display those American flags any way you can. When the Fourth comes around, I not only decorate with flags but also start planning my patriotic menu.
Everything must be red, white, and blue or have stars in it! So here’s a super patriotic cocktail for you to enjoy on your holiday: the Star Spangled Blue Martini, embellished with a big watermelon star!
This beautiful Blue Martini gets its gorgeous color from Blue Curacao. It also is a mix of Vodka, Sour Mix, and Pineapple Juice. Such a fruity, yummy combo to enjoy on a nice hot 4th of July day! You could mix these up and enjoy the day by the pool or a nice evening on the patio with candles lit and your favorite friends.
Making the Sour Mix
The Sour Mix that I used to make this drink I made myself.
Super easy—it’s just a combo of equal parts of sugar, hot water, lemon juice, and half the amount of lime! Just shake it up in a jar and you are good to go!
Otherwise, you can simply buy the sour mix at the store, especially if you’re looking to make your life easier!
Preparing the Blue Martinis
These fun martinis can certainly be made in a big batch in a pitcher ahead of time and kept in the fridge so they are nice and cold. Nothing like an entire pitcher of Blue Martinis to make me happy on a holiday!
If you’re looking to stretch this cocktail for a bigger crowd, you could increase the amount of Blue Curacao add more pineapple and sour mix, and serve them like a cocktail over ice. Just make sure to add enough Blue Curacao so you don’t lose that beautiful blue color.
Creating the Star Garnish
Now for the star in the spangle. Just cut a slice of seedless watermelon and use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out stars. Slice a small slit on the bottom so you can garnish with it on the edge of the glass.
I would definitely choose a seedless watermelon. Choosing a watermelon is a simple task. Look for a dark, dull green melon with a yellow spot on the bottom. If the spot is white, that means it did not sit on the vine long enough!
Conclusion
There’s nothing like sipping a little tropical cocktail on a hot day. Especially a beautiful Blue Martini that will make you feel like you’re walking the beach in St. Tropez!
This is truly summertime in a glass! Go to the store today, get everything to make this cocktail, and pick yourself out a marvelous melon to mix up a batch today and enjoy a dreamy, delicious day on your patio this 4th!
