Father’s Day Feast: Easy Mini Steak Skewers Recipe

Sharing is caring!

What’s usually Dad’s favorite thing to eat on Father’s Day – Steak! So why not serve it as an appetizer as well? These mini steak skewers will sure to please not only Dad but the whole family. Who wouldn’t love a scrumptious little combo of Steak, Mushrooms, and red onion all marinated and skewered together to make the perfect bite?

This appetizer is so easy but so yummy it will be perfect for you to serve Dad as a little appetizer to tide him over until dinner. All you need is a one-inch thick or so good steak.

You can use Filet or I used Sirloin. You don’t want something like a Rib Eye as you want it to be lean with no fat in that one little bite. Next, you add a thick slice of Red Onion then either a small Mushroom Cap or a thicker slice.

Marinade Preparation

Once you’ve cut everything into one-inch cubes just put it all in a zip-lock bag to marinate for an hour or so. In my marinade, I use Soy Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, a splash of Red Wine some garlic powder, Oregano, and Salt and Pepper.

Skewering and Grilling

Now it’s time to skewer all those yummy chunks of goodness. If you are using Bamboo skewers you should soak them while your meat is marinating so you don’t start a fire on your grill.

They cook so fast so it’s unlikely this would happen but trust me it has..lol! If you like when you’re skewering you can also add a little fresh rosemary.

I love the taste of rosemary but this is totally optional. Once my skewers are done I also coated them in a little Steak Rub. You can buy premixed Steak Rubs at the grocery store.

Throw On Grill

Now it’s time to grill. If you don’t want to grill you could always use a cast iron pan. Father’s Day always is a good time to fire up the grill and it gives it that nice little char.

These seriously only take minutes so don’t overcook. I seared them on high for 2 minutes then turned it down to low and flipped them and cooked an additional 3 minutes and that’s it!

They were perfect and delicious and just the right little bite!
