Witches Brew Margarita
Halloween is my absolute favorite time of the year! I love to decorate my house, make yummy fall food, and watch all my favorite scary movies while sipping on a delicious Halloween cocktail. Every year I like to come up with a new delicious and spooky creation, and this year it’s Witches Brew!
There is a cocktail made famous by the restaurant Chili’s called Witches Brew, and this is my take on it with a twist! I’ve already made a similar drink called the Poison Apple. So delicious, but I think this Witches Brew Margarita is even better!
It’s a little sour, a little sweet, and has the perfect spooky green color for Halloween. But watch out, cuz this cocktail has a kick!

Why You’ll Love This Witches Brew Margarita
This cocktail has such an incredible combination of flavors! The tequila, Cointreau, Blue Curacao, fresh lime juice, and touch of agave make a delicious margarita, but my favorite addition is the pineapple juice.
The pineapple juice gives it a little tropical sweetness that balances the tart lime and orange liqueurs. It really makes this cocktail quite cravable!
And of course, that deep green color makes it perfect for Halloween. Add a sparkly green sugar rim and one of my creepy mummy finger ice cubes, and you’ve got a cocktail that looks like it came straight out of a witch’s cauldron!
It’s also a great drink for Halloween parties because you can make a big pitcher ahead of time.
Ingredients You’ll Need
You only need a handful of ingredients to whip up this fabulous Halloween cocktail.
- Tequila Blanco: I like using a blanco tequila for this margarita.
- Cointreau: Adds a delicious orange flavor. You can substitute Triple Sec if you prefer.
- Blue Curacao: Another orange-flavored liqueur that gives the cocktail its original blue color.
- Pineapple Juice: This is my twist on the cocktail! It adds just the right amount of sweetness and really makes the drink delicious.
- Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice: Gives the margarita that wonderful tart flavor. Fresh is always best!
- Agave Nectar: Just a touch balances the sour lime.
- Green Food Coloring: A small amount creates that dark, spooky green color.
- Dark Green or Black Sanding Sugar: For the perfect Halloween rim.
When I first mixed this drink, I thought the combination of Blue Curacao and pineapple juice would turn green, which was exactly what I wanted.
Unfortunately, it came out a beautiful blue! Not exactly ideal for a witch. Lol!
So alas, I needed to add a little green food coloring. I absolutely love the dark green spookiness it creates.

How to Make a Witches Brew Margarita
This cocktail is so easy to make, and it takes only about five minutes!
First, prepare your cocktail glass. Dip the rim of a coupe or margarita glass into a little agave nectar or fresh lime juice, then dip it into dark green or black sanding sugar.
I like using sanding sugar because it’s finer and adheres to the edge of the glass better. It also gives the cocktail such a pretty, sparkly finish.
Place the garnished glass in the freezer to chill while you mix your drink.
Next, fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the tequila, Cointreau, Blue Curacao, pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, and agave.
Add a tiny amount of green food coloring and shake everything well until chilled. You can always add a little more coloring until you achieve that perfect spooky shade of green.
Pour the cocktail into your chilled, sugar-rimmed glass, and you’re ready to serve!

How to Make Spooky Mummy Finger Ice Cubes
Now for one of my favorite parts of this cocktail!
I made these scary mummy fingers to use as ice cubes, and they are such a fun addition. They look so creepy hanging over the edge of the glass, but they’re really a breeze to make!
All you need is water, red and blue food coloring, prunes, small rubber bands, and clean, food-safe gloves.
Here’s how I made them:
- Fill a measuring cup with water and add a drop of red and blue food coloring to create a purplish hue.
- Cut a prune in half and place a piece into the tip of each glove finger. This makes it look like a dead fingernail. Lol!
- Slowly pour the colored water into the fingers of the glove.
- Twist off the filled fingers and secure them with small rubber bands.
- Place them on a parchment-lined tray and freeze until completely solid.
- Carefully remove the gloves from the frozen fingers before adding them to your cocktails.
If you like, you can drape the filled fingers over a mixing spoon before freezing so they have a slight bend. This makes them perfect for hanging over the rim of the glass!
If you’re making numerous drinks for a Halloween party, you can certainly start these days ahead and just keep them in the freezer.
A little planning makes party day so much easier!

Tips for the Best Witches Brew Margarita
There are just a few little things that make this Halloween margarita extra special.
Don’t add too much food coloring. You only need a tiny amount to get that dark green color. You definitely don’t want your guests walking around with green teeth!
Skip the food coloring if you prefer. You can use more pineapple juice and less Blue Curacao to create a lighter green hue. The color won’t be as dark, and the flavor will be a little different, but it will still be delicious.
Use fresh lime juice. The fresh lime makes such a difference in a margarita, especially with the sweetness from the pineapple and agave.
Prepare your glasses ahead of time. You can garnish your glasses the night before your Halloween party. Just dip the rims in agave and sanding sugar, then set them aside until you’re ready to serve.
Keep everything nice and cold. A chilled glass and a well-shaken cocktail make this drink even better!
Make a Pitcher for Your Halloween Party
If you’re hosting a Halloween party, you can certainly make a pitcher of this cocktail the day ahead.
And believe me, it’s so much easier than shaking individual cocktails all night!
For a pitcher that makes about eight cocktails, combine:
- 2 cups Tequila Blanco
- 1 cup Cointreau
- 1 cup Blue Curacao
- 1 cup Pineapple Juice
- 1 cup Fresh Lime Juice
- About 1 tablespoon Agave Nectar
- Green food coloring, as needed
Simply combine everything in a large pitcher and stir well.
Start with one drop of green food coloring, then add more until you achieve the perfect spooky shade of green.
Cover the pitcher and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve.
When your guests arrive, give the pitcher a good stir and pour each serving into an ice-filled shaker. Shake until cold and strain into your prepared glasses.
The best part is that you can have your sugar-rimmed glasses and mummy finger ice cubes ready to go, too!

I can’t think of a better cocktail to serve on my favorite night of the year!

I love the dark green color, the sparkly rim, and especially those creepy mummy fingers. They really make this cocktail something special!
You could even set out a little Halloween cocktail station with your chilled glasses, spooky garnishes, and a big pitcher of Witches Brew so everyone can enjoy the fun.
