Why You’ll Love This
This dip checks all the boxes.
- Cool, creamy, and refreshing
- Loaded with fresh cucumber and dill
- Brightened with fresh lemon juice
- A subtle kick from cayenne without being spicy

- Perfect for summer gatherings, cookouts, and parties
The fresh herbs and lemon keep the dip light while the cream cheese and mayonnaise create a rich, creamy texture that’s hard to resist.
Ingredients You’ll Need
This recipe comes together with simple fresh ingredients.
- Softened cream cheese (low fat or full fat)
- Mayonnaise
- English cucumber
- Fresh dill
- Fresh chives (or finely diced scallions)
- Garlic
- Fresh lemon juice
- Cayenne pepper
- Sea salt
- Celery salt
- Fresh ground black pepper
One important note—use an English cucumber for this recipe. They’re much less watery than regular cucumbers and have very small seeds, giving the dip the perfect texture.

How to Make Cucumber Dill Dip
Making this dip couldn’t be easier.
Start by grating the English cucumber using the large holes of a box grater.

After grating, press the cucumber with paper towels to remove some of the excess moisture. This helps keep the dip nice and creamy instead of watery.

Give the grated cucumber a rough chop so you don’t end up with long strands throughout the dip.

In a large bowl, combine:
- Softened cream cheese
- Mayonnaise
- Chopped cucumber
- Fresh dill
- Chives
- Garlic
- Lemon juice
- Cayenne
- Sea salt
- Celery salt
- Fresh cracked pepper
Mix everything together until smooth and well combined.
Refrigerate until chilled, then garnish with extra fresh chives or dill before serving.

Tips for the Best Results
A few simple tips make all the difference.
- Be sure to remove as much moisture from the grated cucumber as possible.
- Let the cream cheese soften before mixing for a smoother dip.
- Chill the dip for at least 30 minutes before serving so the flavors have time to blend.
- Taste before serving and adjust the pepper or lemon juice if you’d like a little more brightness.
The tiny pinch of cayenne doesn’t make the dip spicy—it simply gives it a subtle warmth that balances the cool cucumber beautifully.
