Celebrate Mother’s Day with Crab Cake Bites
Are you looking for a special appetizer to serve this Mother’s Day? You should try my Crab Cake Bites. They are decadent and yummy and a nice appetizer to serve on a special occasion like Mother’s Day!
In my house Mother’s Day is a day of relaxing and fun. When the kids were little we used to go on fun outings like the zoo and out to breakfast. Now the kids are grown and it’s more about being together and enjoying the day. So for me a little Champagne Cocktail and a Crab Cake Bite would be my perfect day!
So, maybe you’re going to see your Mom or you’re just making special appetizers to enjoy in your own home but either way I think you will love these little bites.
Ingredients
For the Crab Cake Bites:
- 1 6 Oz Can of Lump Crab Meat
- 1 6 Oz Cream Cheese Softened
- 1 Egg Lightly Beaten
- 1/4 Cup Sour Cream
- 1 Squeeze Fresh Lemon Juice (Approx 1 Tsp)
- 2 TB Romano or Parm Cheese
- 1 Tsp Old Bay
- 1 Pinch Cayenne Pepper
- 3 Drops Hot Sauce
- 1 TB + Addtl to garnish Chopped Chives
- Salt & Pepper
For the Bottom Crust:
- 1/2 Cup Bisquick Baking Mix
- 1/4 Cup Milk
- 2 TB Melted Butter
- 1 Tsp Lemon Zest
For the Dipping Sauce:
- 1/4 Cup Sour Cream
- 2 Heaping TB Mayonnaise
- 1 TB Shrimp Cocktail Sauce
- 1 TB Go-Chu Jang Sauce Or Hot & Spicy Chili Sauce
- 1 Squeeze Lemon Juice
Instructions
1. Preparing the Bottom Crust
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a mini muffin tin.
- In a bowl, combine Bisquick Baking Mix, milk, melted butter, and lemon zest to make the bottom crust.
- Divide the mixture evenly among the 24 cups of the mini muffin tin, about 1 teaspoon per tin.
- Mold the muffin mix to create a crust in each tin.
2. Making the Crab Mixture
- In another bowl, mix together lump crab meat, softened cream cheese, lightly beaten egg, sour cream, fresh lemon juice, Romano or Parmesan cheese, Old Bay seasoning, cayenne pepper, hot sauce, chopped chives, salt, and pepper.
- Divide the crab mixture evenly among the muffin tins with the prepared crust.
- Garnish each with additional finely chopped chives.
3. Baking and Serving
- Bake the Crab Cake Bites for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While they bake, prepare the dipping sauce by combining sour cream, mayonnaise, shrimp cocktail sauce, Go-Chu Jang sauce or hot chili sauce, and lemon juice. Chill the sauce until ready to serve.
- Once baked, remove the Crab Cake Bites from the oven and let them cool slightly.
- Serve warm with the chilled dipping sauce.

You could easily make the filling the night before so that all you have to do is line your muffin tin with the Bisquick mixture then top with the Crab mix and you’ll be in Crabby heaven in about 20-25 minutes.

Crab Cake Bites
Equipment
- 1 Mini Muffin Tin
Ingredients
- 1 6 Oz Can of Lump Crab Meat
- 1 6 Oz Cream Cheese Softened
- 1 Egg Lightly Beaten
- 1/4 Cup Sour Cream
- 1 Squeeze Fresh Lemon Juice Approx 1 Tsp
- 2 TB Romano or Parm Cheese
- 1 Tsp Old Bay
- 1 Pinch Cayenne Pepper
- 3 Drops Hot Sauce
- 1 TB + Addtl to garnish Chopped Chives
- Salt & Pepper
Bottom Crust
- 1/2 Cup Bisquick Baking Mix
- 1/4 Cup Milk
- 2 TB Melted Butter
- 1 Tsp Lemon Zest
Dipping Sauce
- 1/4 Cup Sour Cream
- 2 Heaping TB Mayonnaise
- 1 TB Shrimp Cocktail Sauce
- 1 TB Go-Chu Jang Sauce Or Hot & Spicy Chili Sauce
- 1 Squeeze Lemon Juice
Instructions
- Combine the ingredients to make the Bisquick Crust and divide amongst the 24 cups of the mini muffin tin which has been sprayed with oil or greased – Approx 1 tsp per tin
- Mold the muffin mix to make a crust in each tin
Crab Mixture
- Add all ingredients and Mix Well
- Divide amongst the Muffin tins then Garnish with additional finely chopped chives
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden then serve with Dipping Sauce
Dipping Sauce
- Combine all ingredients and chill till ready to serve
