Wonton Sausage Stars Ingredients:
- 1/2 Roll Hot Jimmy Dean Sausage
- 1 Cup Shredded Colby Jack Cheese
- 1/2 Cup Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing
- 1/2 Cup Diced Red Pepper (Approximately 1/2 of a large red pepper)
- 4 Green Onions, Diced Fine
Equipment:
- 1 Fry Pan
- 1 Mini Muffin Pan
Step 1: Finding the Wonton Wrappers
Before we begin, make sure you have the star of the show – the wonton wrappers!
These delicate wrappers can sometimes be elusive, but you’ll typically find them in the fresh vegetable area of your local store, often near the bulk produce section.
Don’t worry if you can’t find traditional wonton wrappers; you can use vegan options or even egg roll wrappers cut into fourths as a suitable substitute.
Step 2: Preparing the Sausage Filling
In a frying pan over medium-high heat, brown the hot Jimmy Dean sausage for about 10 minutes until it’s cooked through and nicely crumbled.
Once done, drain the excess grease on a paper towel to keep your stars deliciously light.
Step 3: Mixing the Flavors
Dice the red pepper and green onions while the sausage cools.
In a mixing bowl, combine the crumbled sausage with the shredded Colby Jack cheese, diced red pepper, chopped green onions, and the tangy Hidden Valley Ranch dressing.
This flavorful blend will elevate your Wonton Sausage Stars to new heights!
Step 4: Assembling the Stars
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while we assemble the stars.
Lightly coat your mini muffin pan with olive oil spray to prevent sticking.
Gently place a wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, ensuring they form a charming star shape.
You should have enough wrappers for a total of 36 stars.
Step 5: Filling the Stars
Now, it’s time to add the scrumptious sausage filling!
Spoon a heaping teaspoon of the sausage mixture into each wonton wrapper, making sure to distribute the flavors evenly.
Step 6: The Finishing Touch
For that extra touch of golden perfection, lightly spray the edges of your wonton stars with oil.
This will help them brown beautifully and become irresistibly crispy around the edges.
Step 7: Baking and Serving
Pop your filled mini muffin pan into the preheated oven and bake the Wonton Sausage Stars for 8-10 minutes or until they turn a delightful golden brown.
Once done, repeat the process with any remaining filling until all your stars are ready to shine!
Conclusion:
Congratulations, you’ve just mastered the art of making festive Wonton Sausage Stars!
These appetizers are perfect for any holiday party, game-day gathering, or whenever you’re craving a savory treat.
The combination of hot sausage, Colby Jack cheese, tangy ranch dressing, red pepper, and green onions will keep your guests coming back for more.
So, get ready to impress with these easy-to-make, delicious-to-eat Wonton Sausage Stars! Enjoy!

Already made! Hidden Valley Ranch from the bottle.
Can you make these ahead? Plan on making for a Christmas party and I have a 40 minute drive! Thank you in advance!
Hi! I’m so glad you’re trying my favorite appetizer! I would assemble them and transport them unbaked in the muffin tins then cook them at your friends house. They definitely should be served hot! Good luck and happy holidays!
