Boozy Root Beer Float
So summer is upon us, and with that comes warm evenings on the patio—perfect for entertaining with friends.
Once it hits mid-June, I start dreaming up my menu for the 4th of July and all those summer soirées. This year, I’m all about keeping it simple and fun.

The Plan: Easy Eats & Chill Cocktails
I’m thinking: barbeques, finger foods, and easy cocktails. Nothing too fancy—just good food, good company, and relaxing under the stars.
But of course, every party needs to end on a sweet note.
Dessert with a Twist
So what’s better to serve on a hot summer night than a Root Beer Float?
But wait—this isn’t your childhood classic. Like the bottle says, this is not your father’s root beer float! This one has a little grown-up kick that makes it extra fun for adults.
Budget-Friendly & Beyond Easy
I’m keeping things affordable and low-effort this summer, and this cocktail-dessert checks both boxes.
Just a few ingredients, no fancy tools, and it tastes amazing.
That said—don’t skimp on the ice cream. If you want it rich and creamy, spend the extra dollar and grab a high-quality brand. I love Tillamook—it’s seriously dreamy and totally worth it.

What You’ll Need
All you need is:
- A few scoops of vanilla ice cream
- A splash of bourbon
- A pour of hard root beer (I love Not Your Father’s Root Beer)
If you’re not into strong drinks, feel free to skip the bourbon. But I personally think it adds a delicious depth of flavor.

How to Serve It
Scoop your ice cream into a mason jar, pour over the bourbon, then top it all off with the hard root beer.
If you’re feeling fancy, go ahead and add a cherry on top and maybe even a fun straw. Oh là là! It’s so good—and guaranteed to be a hit.

The Perfect Party Finale
I’ve got friends coming over for the Fourth, and my menu is shaping up: mini hot dog bites, sliders, bruschetta with my garden tomatoes, and a veggie dip.
Everyone usually brings something delicious—and I’ll be wrapping up the night with these Boozy Root Beer Floats. The perfect, easy ending to a chill summer evening on the patio.
Happy 4th of July and Happy Summer to you all! Soak it up while it lasts!
