French Onion Grilled Cheese Bites with Tomato Soup Shooter
A decadent grilled cheese of caramelized onions, Swiss & gruyere cheese. Serve this amazing bite with a shot glass shooter of your favorite tomato soup for the perfect combo on a cold day!
1ContainerFavorite Tomato Soup heated up according to directions
2YellowOnions Sliced Thin
1/4Cup Red Wine
1TBWorcestershire Sauce
2TBUnsalted Butter
2Sprigs Fresh Thyme and Salt and Pepper
4SlicesSourdough or Italian Bread buttered on each side
6SlicesSwiss Cheese
1CupShredded Gruyere Cheese
Instructions
Melt unsalted butter and add onions and cook on med low for approx 45 minutes until they are a golden brown
Add wine, Worcestershire, thyme, salt and pepper and cook an additional ten minutes until the wine has cooked down and the onions are a deep brown color
Assemble your sandwich by buttering each side of the bread and placing 2 -3 slices of Swiss Cheese, the layering with the caramelized onions then topping either with additional Swiss cheese or shredded Gruyere Cheese then the other slice of bread
Cook on med low this a nice golden brown then continue the same on the other side
Heat your soup and pour into shot glasses
Cut the grilled cheese in triangles and serve each triangle with a shooter of tomato soup
