Hot & Dirty Martini

Sharing is caring!

I absolutely love a good dry and dirty martini!

Thereโ€™s nothing better than an ice cold martini with a couple blue cheese olives to make my day unless of course you want to spice it up a bit!

This martini takes a classic and adds a bit of spice to make it a craveable cocktail that you certainly will be shaking up for friends and family or just as a treat for yourself after a long day!

Ready to shake things up? Hereโ€™s how this bold and flavorful spicy martini comes together.

Choosing Vodka or Gin for Your Spicy Martini

This martini can certainly be made with either Vodka or Gin. Iโ€™m a Vodka girl but you do what ever makes you happy!

Also unlike some people Iโ€™m not heavy on the vermouth. I was taught as a young bartender to just wave the bottle of vermouth over the shaker from my regulars so thatโ€™s how Iโ€™ve always liked my martinis very light on the vermouth or not at all!

In this case weโ€™re adding just a touch!

How the Spice and Brine Build Flavor

So letโ€™s get shakin!!

Fill your cocktail shaker with ice and add your vodka or gin. When making martinis you always want to use top shelf spirits.

Next add your touch of dry vermouth and a nice splash of olive brine. This is what makes it a โ€œdirtyโ€ martini. You can find olive brine sold specifically for making cocktails at your liquor store.

Or if youโ€™re using it right out of the jar thatโ€™s fine just make sure your olives are in brine not oil!

Next add at least 4-5 drops of your favorite hot sauce. I used a Golden Variety that is super tasty but also gave my drink a golden hue which is actually really pretty.

Why a Touch of Sea Salt Makes This Cocktail Shine

This cocktail really benefits from a touch of sea salt.

The saltiness pairs nicely with the heat and just makes for a super delicious drink.

I also rimmed just a portion of my glass with sea salt. Not only does it look pretty but it is a yummy addition.

Garnishing and Serving Your Spicy Martini

I rimmed the glass then poured in my ice cold cocktail.

Itโ€™s really nice to chill your martini glasses if you have the space and time. Especially if itโ€™s for a special occasion or actually just for you because letโ€™s face it who deserves special treatment more than yourself.

So once you pour in that ice cold vodka add a pinch of salt and garnish with a hot pepper and some blue cheese stuffed olives.

Ooohh la la youโ€™re in for a great evening!

The Perfect Occasions for a Spicy Martini

If itโ€™s a nice summerโ€™s night you can light some candles and enjoy this cocktail with your feet up on the patio.

This also would be a great treat for Dad on Fatherโ€™s Day or a nice aperitif on a cold fall day.

Another great time would be to serve this on Cinco de Mayo – not everyone is a fan of margaritas and this would be a great alternative!

Conclusion

Whenever you choose to indulge in this tasty spicy martini, you will be incredibly happy that you gave this a try.

That touch of heat and the cool crispness of the chilled vodka will delight all your senses!

Whether youโ€™re making one to unwind after a long day or shaking up a batch for friends, this spicy martini is a bold twist on the classic cocktail thatโ€™s sure to impress.
