Best Hanky Pankies

A combo of breakfast sausage, bacon, onions, and spices mixed with Velvetta cheese and served on cocktail rye bread

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet
  • 1 Saute Pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Loaf Cocktail Rye Bread Found in the Deli
  • 1/2 Roll Bulk Mild Breakfast Sausage Such as Jimmy Deans
  • 4 Slices Bacon
  • 1/2 Pound Velvetta Cheese cut in cubes
  • 1/4 Med Onion finely minced
  • 1/4 Tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/4 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 Sliced Green Onions to top Or you can top with minced Parsley

Instructions
 

  • Fry bacon and remove from pan and crumble when cool
  • Add sausage and cook half way when still slightly pink add onions
  • Once cooked through add bacon back in pan and add worcestershire, garlic powder and red pepper and mix well
  • Add chunks of velvetta and heat till melted then remove from heat
  • Place cocktail rye bread on baking pan and top each piece with a heaping TB of the sausage mixture
  • Bake at 425 degrees for 5 -7 minutes then broil to crisp up for 2 more minutes
  • Top with finely chopped green onions or parsley and serve
